Glastonbruy 2013 Will Be Televised

It was announced today that the Glastonbury 2013 will be televised on the BBC.

Plans for Glastonbury 2013 on the BBC have today been confirmed, viewers of Glastonbury 2013 will be able to click the red button and choose a major stage at the festival which is being streamed live from the event.

They are also going to provide the 'Slickest and most compressive mobile coverage' so viewers are able to not only watch Glastonbury 2013 on the BBC but also on their mobile, or tablet; and numbers watching on those devices could reach as much as '50 per cent - beating the record of 37 per cent who watched last year's Radio 1 Hackney Weekend'

In 2011 there was extensive media coverage on the BBC from Glastonbury, which included broadcasting across BBC Radio, and their online portal. The total published viewing figures revealed that almost 18.6 million people tuned in to watch Glastonbury 2011 over the weekend it was held.

Here are some viewing statistics from Glastonbury 2011 about viewing on the BBC:
BBC 2's coverage = 15.7 million people
Headline performers on the channel = 1.5 million people
Beyonce's headline performance = 2.6 million people
Coldplay's headline performance = 2.2 million people
U2's headline performance = 2.1 million people
BBC 3's coverage = 6.7 million people
Mumford & Sons were the most watched on BBC 3 average audience = 770,000 people
Peak (For Mumford & Sons on BBC 3) = 1.1 million people
Elbow's Average = 712,000 people
BBC 4's coverage = 4.3 million people
U2's headline set on BBC 4 = 1.2 million people

But because there is more coverage for this years Glastonbury 2013 there is sure to be more viewers!!
