Mick Jagger Tweeted about playing Glastonbury 2013:
'Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt!'
Glastonbury is set to be attended by 135,000 people over the weekend, and is turned to almost a pop-up village for the weekend. However that's not the only surprising figure, Glastonbury also have over 100 stages at the festival!
Glastonbury Festival didn't take place last year due to the Olympics, and also to allow the field to reset due to thousands of festival goers therefore the ground gets very worn out. Another reason is because some big acts need to be booked well in advanced therefore taking 2012 of gave the opportunity to book big acts, like The Rolling Stones. Everything below is in RED because it is about the 2011 Glastonbury Festival, therefore is not in black otherwise there may be some confusion.
Therefore the last time the festival took place was in 2011 which included some of the biggest names in music, U2 headlined the Friday Night on the Pyramid Stage, Coldplay headlined the Saturday Night again on the Pyramid Stage, and finally Glastonbury had a first in 2011 by having the first female Pyramid Stage headliner with Beyonce closing Glastonbury 2011 on the Sunday Night.
Other acts who played the 2011 event included Morrissey, Elbow, Biffy Clyro, Pendulum, Plan B, Tnie Tempah, B.B. King, Rumer, Paul Simon, Jessie J, Primal Scream, Mumford & Sons, The Chemical Brothers, Queens Of The Stone Age, Cee Lo Green, Eels, The Wombats, The Vaccines, Laura Marling and many more.
