The location and 2 acts for Radio 1's Big Weekend 2013 have been revealed.

This year Radio 1's Big Weekend will be heading to......... Londonderry in Northern Island. Radio 1's Big Weekend has visited Londonderry before in 2004 but the site is different for the 2013 event; the reason it is re-visiting Londonderry is because the city again celebrates its status as UK City Of Culture for 2013.

But this year for the first time ever the event will be a 3 day event rather than previous years when it has only been a 2 day event, and on the first day will focus on dance music and Radio 1Xtra. The month for the event were also confirmed as being in May from the 24th (Friday) - 26th (Sunday).

The location in Londonderry for the event is in its city centre with 2 main stages of live music.

Boomtown Rats Reform To Play One Major UK Festival, But Which One?

The iconic 70s and 80s band, Boomtown Rats are due to reform in the summer and play ONE major UK Festival, but which one?

The Isle Of Wight Festival have been lucky enough to get the band to reform for a the festival and play the Sunday and will be playing the Main Stage. Bob Geldof will be fronting the band, as they return after being away for 26 years; and haven't played together since 1986.

The Boomtown Rats have one iconic music awards such as Brit Awards, Grammy Awards and Ivor Novellors.

Bob Geldof had this to say about playing the festival:
'Playing again with The Rats and doing those great songs again will be exciting afresh. We were an amazing band and I just feel it's the right time to re-Rat, to go back to Boomtown for a visit.  Also, I’ve always fancied playing the Isle of Wight Festival ever since I hitched there in the good/bad days when I was a kid. I saw The Who, Doors (I think) Hendrix and Leonard Cohen, who incidentally blew Hendrix off the stage, and Kris Kristofferson, who was also amazing - God, so many cool bands.'

Tickets are on sale now and you can find tickets information and purchase tickets here click here for Festival Fans article on UK Festival Tickets, or click here for the Official Isle Of Wight Festival's ticket page.
