The band, famed for their high-energy shows, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 and have a back catalogue filled with hits including Give It Away, Under the Bridge, Scar Tissue and Californication.

The festival organisers also did the announcement in a very special way, they made a sand sculpture on Ryde Beach (Location on the Isle Of Wight) with the Red Hot Chili Peppers logo. Picture below of the announcement and also a video of the grand unveiling!!

Below the video and picture is what John Giddings, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers said about the announcement.

The grand unveiling of the sand sculpture:

Red Hot Chili Peppers are looking forward to performing at the Isle Of Wight Festival 2014 as they had this to say:
"To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special."

John Giddings - The festivals organiser was also pleased about landing the band:
"Finally- we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit…and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival…Rock the Wight!"

Bestival Confirms First Headliner

Bestival has confirmed their first headliner and have failed to disappoint.

Outkast have been confirmed as the first headliner for Bestival 2014. Outkast have recently reunited and Rob Da Bank (Bestival Organiser) said he had to fight long and hard to be able to get them to play the 2014 event. The band consists of Andre 3000 and Big Boi. However it is currently unclear what day Outkast will headline.

Outkast are only performing at 2 UK festivals next summer Bestival being one and Wireless Festival being the other.

Bestival 2014 takes place from 4th - 7th September 2014.

Rob Da Bank said this about securing Outkast to headline at the 2014 event:
“Hey ya! By the power invested in me as chief Bestival booker, I’m pretty darn excited to announce that OutKast are headlining Bestival this year! We’ve fought hard to get the recently reunited legendary hip-hop duo onto the ferry… and it’s no ordinary ferry this year as Bestival goes Desert Island Disco for 2014… Palm trees, grass skirts and mirrorballs are the order of the day. It truly is gonna be the Bestival yet!”

However on Bestival's website the article about the announcement of Outkast at the bottom of the article it signs of with the following:
'It’s just the beginning, there’s a whole desert island of disco infiltrators to reveal, with THREE more headliners, plus wild attractions and mind-blowing treatsthat will astonish and thrill your very being to the core.'
3 Headliners? Well we'll have to wait and see!

The news comes after Bestival yesterday confirmed their theme, Desert Island Disco! To read more about that and read the story to go with the theme then here.

Early bird tickets including:
- Entry from Thursday are priced at £195 for Adult Tickets and £127 for Teen (age 13-17) Tickets.

Bestival Confirms 2014 Theme

The theme has been confirmed for Bestival 2014.

The theme is....

Desert Island Disco!!

Bestival posted this story on their website to go with the theme:

In 1977, a strange piece of flotsam washes up with the tide on an island somewhere in the South Atlantic. The victim of a wild party hundreds of miles away, a giant and abandoned disco ball finally comes to rest on the beach. Squinting at the sunlight reflecting off its hundreds of mirrors, a tribesman gently lifts it from the wet sand, feels the tides turn, and runs it back to the elders. Night falls and the tribe dance around their new talisman, flashes of fire reflecting off the disco ball, splashing sparkles across their feathers and spears. As the ball spins and spins, their drums find a new rhythm. Entranced by the glittery orb a four-to-the-floor beat surges through. The tribesman on the 3-string hootoo begins to whap at his bass string.
This. Is. The. Dawn. Of. Disco.
A new religion, a new way of life, a new way to dance until sunrise.
Since its launch in 2013, the good ship HMS Bestival and her crew have been roaming the seas of the world. It’s a voyage of exploration and discovery. They’ve picked up rebels and misfits, artists and prophets. They’ve broken jagged trails through the ice of the Arctic ocean, partied with Inuit people and run with the bears; traversed the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf and docked in Asian ports, trading stories and treasures with Persian kings and medicine men, learnt tumbles from acrobats and songs from the streets of exotic citadels. They keep moving.
Many waves pass under the bow and somewhere, far out of the Gulf of Guinea in the oceans of the South Atlantic, a yell goes up from the crows nest; “Land Ahoy! We’re going to hit her, Captain!” Before the crew can turn the metal hulk of the ship, she gently beaches herself on the warm sands of a desert island. Unknown and uncharted territory.
Looking through his telescope, the look-out frowns confused. There, through the palms fringing the beach, in a clearing; a stone temple, and teems of bamboo and palm roofed shacks. He hears the distant sound of drums on the breeze and sees tiny tribes people moving and shaking. And there, in the middle of it all, the source of his confusion, is a giant bloody disco ball.
This, my friend is Desert Island Disco. And you are very welcome.
