After Months Of Speculation Glastonbury Finally Announces Acts, And Fails To Dissapoint

Glastonbury has finally announced its line up for the 2013 event, and some of the rumours proved to be true!

The headliners for the Pyramid Stage were announced and they are.... For Friday the Arctic Monkeys, The Saturday (As previously rumoured) The legendary Rolling Stones, and finally closing the Pyramid Stage for Glastonbury 2013 Mumford & Sons. There is the full current line up and a Spotify Playlist of some the acts announced.

Left: Arctic Monkeys - Friday Pyramid Stage Headliners

Right: The Rolling Stones - Saturday Pyramid Stage Headliners

Left: Mumford & Sons - Sunday Pyramid Stage Headliners

But they weren't the only acts announced, other acts announced were Dizzee Rascal, Primal Scream, Chase & Status, The XX, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, Foals, Portishead, Example, The Vaccines, Rita Ora, Jake Bugg, Ben Howard, Elvis Costello, Alt-J, Public Enemy, Professor Green, Billy Bragg, Rudimental, Bastille, Daughter, Gabrielle Aplin and many more, to see the full current line up see the bottom of this article, along with a Spotify Playlist of some of the acts announced.

Yes that's right after months of rumours The Rolling Stones have finally been confirmed as the Saturday Night headliners on the Pyramid Stage; after The Rolling Stones last UK Festival Appearance was at the Isle Of Wight Festival, in 2007. Arctic Monkeys have also been confirmed as the Friday Night headliners, at the 2013 event. And finally Mumford & Sons have been confirmed to be closing the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday Night.

Dates and the Pyramid Stage headliners are as follows:
Friday 28th June 2013 - Arctic Monkeys
Saturday 29th June 2013 - The Rolling Stones
Sunday 30th June 2013 - Mumford & Sons

Mick Jagger Tweeted about playing Glastonbury 2013:

'Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt!'

Glastonbury is set to be attended by 135,000 people over the weekend, and is turned to almost a pop-up village for the weekend. However that's not the only surprising figure, Glastonbury also have over 100 stages at the festival!

Glastonbury Festival didn't take place last year due to the Olympics, and also to allow the field to reset due to thousands of festival goers therefore the ground gets very worn out. Another reason is because some big acts need to be booked well in advanced therefore taking 2012 of gave the opportunity to book big acts, like The Rolling Stones. If you would like to read more about Glastonbury taking a break for 2012 click here.

Everything below is in RED because it is about the 2011 Glastonbury Festival, therefore is not in black otherwise there may be some confusion.

Therefore the last time the festival took place was in 2011 which included some of the biggest names in music, U2 headlined the Friday Night on the Pyramid Stage, Coldplay headlined the Saturday Night again on the Pyramid Stage, and finally Glastonbury had a first in 2011 by having the first female Pyramid Stage headliner with Beyonce closing Glastonbury 2011 on the Sunday Night.

Other acts who played the 2011 event included Morrissey, Elbow, Biffy Clyro, Pendulum, Plan B, Tnie Tempah, B.B. King, Rumer, Paul Simon, Jessie J, Primal Scream, Mumford & Sons, The Chemical Brothers, Queens Of The Stone Age, Cee Lo Green, Eels, The Wombats, The Vaccines, Laura Marling and many more.
